Final Submission Map

EXP3 final submission

Zhang Yin's office is basically comprises of 3 spaces which symbolises her 3 offices in Hong Kong, Dogguan and L.A. The 3 offices are linked together and ZhangYin will be travelling through this 3 spaces on her moving office table. The circulation of the pathways also depicts Yin's business which is the paper industry. She collects all the paper from around the world and exports it to different places in the world. This also shows a continuous circle just like the recyclable paper.

Yin's main office is constructed in such a way that it looks like a containerboard with a factory-like building behind it because the Dongguan office is the headquarter and consists of big paper making factory. The Hongkong office on the other hand is constructed using a lot of L-shapes which looks like corrugated cardboard. The repetition of the cardboard-looking structure symbolises paper which is recyclable. L.A. office consists of 3 squares where the smallest and simplest one is wrapped inside. This shows that the company is growing from a small business by collecting paper and cardboard until it successfully become a big company. All the 3 offices are connected and Yin will only travel around these places on her moving office table in the map.

Tata's office is on top of his big company and is popped out. This shows that he is always ahead of everyone else and always be the leader. His office's front facade is a 1-way glass which outside people cannot look into his office but he can see everything from inside his office. This shows that he is aware of every move of his competitor but he doesn't let people see what is he doing. The whole structure of his company is constructed using a lot of columns which every column symbolises his business in many areas. He will take the elevator to inspect all his business.

In the map, you will find that all the spaces are connected using the elevator and Yin's moving office table, this shows that Tata and Yin are so busy that they don't really walk around.

Tips

If you find fraps inconvenient or don't really know how to use it, I recommend another software called 'SnagIt' which is very easy to use. You can frame the area that you want the picture to be taken.

Main points from news article

Carlos Slim

"It's hard to live a day without buying one of his products," Sandra Morales, 31, said as she ate lunch in the Plaza Insurgentes shopping center - a property owned by Slim - in Mexico City. "He's so rich and powerful and in a country where there are so many poor."

Ratan Tata

"When Ratan Tata took over the helm from his uncle 16 years ago, the conglomerate resembled an opaque jungle of companies. He rebuilt, tore down, expanded and forged a powerful holding company out of the general merchandise store with its approximately 300 individual companies. That holding company today functions primarily in seven areas, including steel, automobile production, information technology, telecommunications and energy."

Zhang Yin

"Zhang took that memory all the way to the bank. As a result of her entrepreneurship, she is now richer than virtually any other woman anywhere in the world, including Oprah Winfrey, Martha Stewart, and the chief executive of eBay, Meg Whitman. Her personal wealth is estimated at $1.5 billion or more."

ElectroLiquid Aggregation Quote:
Nothing would be left of instinct, the very essence of human life is reason.

The blocks without the ramp is inaccessible for both the clients because some of the blocks are tall and disconnected with each other.

The blocks are combined without making any sense as they all make it very difficult to travel through all the spaces.

The addition of the ramp allows clients to travel through the spaces, that's the reason it is built. Nothing can be done solely on instinct.
